Go For Gold

A couple of weeks ago Christina forwarded an email with the official IWSC entry invitation to me and suggested that we could enter one of our wines- just for fun. Knowing from experience that one should never contradict Christina ;-) I sent in our Weinviertel DAC as I thought it might be interesting to see how we are doing among the other Austrian producers.

This week we received the results: our Grüner Veltliner was awarded 95 points and a Gold Medal, ranked among Wachau Smaragds and Reserve wines and some Beerenauslese and TBA wines.

We were all thrilled to receive this award as it once more confirms that we are on the right track and the hard work in the vineyards and the cellar really pays off.

I am grateful and humbled and I LOVE the tasting note from the judges:

" The nose captivates with vibrant aromas of tinned pineapple and blackberry, intertwined with hints of white pepper. On the palate, a delightful richness reveals layers of white peach, zesty citrus, and apple, culminating in a medium-long finish with refreshing acidity. "
