Fresh Start

"It’s springtime”, the goose reminded me somewhat reproachfully this morning, as if I hadn’t prepared her nest weeks ago. Now it’s full of perfectly shaped white eggs, Poysdorf is in full bloom and we are busy preparing the first bottling of our Weinviertel DAC 2020.

It’s been so much fun working together on the release of our first Fritz & Frieda wine and we can’t wait to see it all come together now. It’s a busy time of year, bud breaking has started on the vines, cherry trees are blossoming and the vegetable field is impatiently waiting for the last of the greenhouse plants. The danger of late frost hangs over our vineyards like a sword of Damocles during these last cold weeks of springtime. There will hardly be time to catch a breath from now until August but time flies when each day is packed with work you are passionate about. It always feels like making a fresh start once May has arrived and the hustle and bustle of the new wine year starts. Each year is unique and different and challenging in its own way. Let’s see what 2021 will bring…
