Fritz & Frieda

Family Rocks

Our dining table that very comfortably seats twelve eaters is made from oak wood lumbered in our family’s forest two generations ago. It is a replica of the old table and bench that were ordered for our house when it was built in 1934 and the retired carpenter who copied it for us learned how to craft this traditional style furniture when he was a very young apprentice.

After we bottled Fritz & Frieda Grüner Veltliner last week, twelve of us sat together at this table for a casual dinner and a few glasses of wine. What was planned as a quick after-work meal turned into a family celebration. With the kids running in and out, the chatting and laughter at the table and food being passed around, our granddads who hadn’t been sitting together like this for many years, indulged in a passionate conversation about a lifetime as a winegrower, their dreams and ambitions as young men, occasional privations and failures and a workload that would have been more than enough for two lifetimes.  At one point the four of us looked at each other with a similar expression of awe and enthusiasm: these two really are our  families´ foundations, our rocks and we are forever grateful.

So be sure when you open a bottle of this wine, it’s not just filled with wine, it’s full of stories, hard work and laughter… - it’s full of life!
